Birth of Ronald Reagan, film actor and 40th U.S. President (1981-1989). Reagan served two terms as governor of California, the first from 1967 to 1971 and the second from 1971 to 1975. He did not run for a third term, although he could have under California law at the time. On November 6, 1990, a limit of two consecutive terms was placed on the State governorship.
