Birth of Ansel Adams, American landscape photographer, especially of western wilderness and mountain panoramas. His photography of Yosemite became iconic.
1915
The Panama Pacific International Exposition opens in San Francisco. Although the exhibits of Beaux Arts architecture significantly influenced northern California archictural design trends, the only major surviving building is the Palace of Fine Arts. [Source: California by Kevin Starr.]
