Former California State Librarian Kevin Starr, historian of the Golden State, dies at the age of 76.

Tanya Doby, a member of the Los Alamitos Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Commission, is appointed to fill a vacancy on the City’s Council. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Mayor Warren Kusumoto in December 2019 to pursue a job oppotunity on the East Coast. Ms. Doby was immediately sworn in by City Clerk Windmera Quintanar. She will serve through the general election November 2020, which will be the first under new voting districts adopted in July 2018.
