Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme is found guilty of an attempt on President Gerald Ford’s life. The assassination attempt was made in Sacramento. Fromme, a former member of the Manson Family, was born in Santa Monica, lived with her family in Redondo Beach, and attended El Camino College for two months. After being convicted, Fromme was sentenced to life in prison. Except for a brief two-day period after an escape, she remained in custody until August 14, 2009 when she was released on parole. She has never renounced her allegiance to Charles Manson.

Former San Francisco City Supervisor Dan White assassinates Mayor George Moscone and Harvey Milk, the City’s first openly gay supervisor.
