Michelangelo’s towering marble statue of David was unveiled to the public in Florence, Italy. But you don’t have to go to Florence to see David. You don’t event have to go to Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, which displays a nine-ton replica. You can see a replica of David at Forest Lawn, Cypress (see photo). Garden Grove High School unveiled the Michael A. Monsoor Memorial Stadium in front of Argonaut fans there to enjoy a football game and remember a military hero. Monsoor, a former Garden Grove letter winner who joined the Navy in March 2001, died on Sept. 29, 2006, after shielding his fellows from a live grenade with his own body during a firefight in Iraq.
