JFCS’s Tuesday Talks
November 16, 2021 @ 7:00 pm

After two very successful events in the Tuesday Talks speaker series, attention will be turned to the topic of food insecurity in the Long Beach area for the third event in the series on Tuesday, November 16, 7:00 p.m. (in-person and online)
Food Insecurity In Our Backyard will feature an overview on the severity of hunger in our communities presented by regional experts Mark Lowry, executive director of Orange County Food Bank, and Julie Lie, Food Network Manager for Long Beach Center for Economic Inclusion. In addition, four individuals will share their stories of how their passion around hunger has led to action, inspiring those present to do more. Attendees have the opportunity to engage in the issue by bringing a shelf-stable food item to the event to replenish the JFCS food pantry.
The purpose of the series is to raise funds to support the programs and services of JFCS of Long Beach while addressing important topics around social justice and equity in these times. “Tuesday Talks gathers some of the most relevant regional and national thinkers to benefit JFCS’s daily work of supporting the mental health and basic needs of the region’s residents and in particular, those who have been most severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Adolfo Guzman-Lopez, chair of the event committee.
Subscription prices have been lowered for the remaining two events. There are two types of subscriptions. In-person/hybrid attendance at both events is priced at $99 per person. Those who participate online only will pay $75 for both events. Sponsorships are available beginning at $250, and all may be purchased online at www.jfcslongbeach.org/tuesday-talks or by phone at (562) 427-7916.
Current Alpert JCC policy for COVID-19 requires proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test not older than 72 hours for anyone attending these events. JFCS apologizes in advance for any unexpected changes that may be necessary as a result of this ever-changing situation.
Proceeds benefit the programs and services of JFCS of Long Beach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. For more information, contact JFCS at (562) 427-7916 or via email to pdavidson@jfcslongbeach.org.
